What you get

Your camera, produced.

Stack layers on your camera the way a TV studio does, then use the result in any app that can pick a camera.

Your brand on every call

Set your logo, colours and font once. Banners, frames and text all follow your brand kit.

A name banner

Your name and title in a clean lower third, so people know who's talking from the first second.

Live text

Type anything, or show a command's output, such as the time or your city, refreshed as often as you like.

Video and images

Loop a clip, drop in a logo or a slide, and blend overlays so they sit naturally on the picture.

A better background

Blur the room behind you, or swap it for an image, without a green screen.

Made for live calls

See which app is watching ("LIVE in Zoom") and what each app crops. Updates wait until you're off camera.

How it works

Three steps, once.

Callstage adds a camera to your Mac. Your call apps see it like any other webcam.

Install and allow

Drag Callstage into Applications and open it. macOS asks you to allow its camera extension in System Settings. Callstage walks you through it.

Build your stage

Start from your camera and add layers: logo, name banner, text, video. What you see in the preview is what people get.

Pick Callstage Camera

In Zoom, Meet, Teams, FaceTime or any other app, choose Callstage Camera as your camera. That's it.

Install

Get Callstage.

Signed and notarized by Apple. After the first install, Callstage keeps itself up to date.

Download

Open the disk image and drag Callstage into your Applications folder. It has to live there: macOS only loads camera extensions from Applications.

Download for Mac

Homebrew

Prefer the terminal? One line installs it.

brew install --cask ryanjn/tap/callstage

Add the location command for live "where I am" text: brew install --cask ryanjn/tap/callstage-location

Requires macOS 13 Ventura or later on an Apple silicon or Intel Mac.

Questions

Good to know.

Is it free?

Yes, Callstage is free during the beta.

Which apps does it work with?

Any Mac app that lets you choose a camera: Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams (app or browser), FaceTime, Slack, Webex, QuickTime and more.

Does my video leave my Mac?

No. Everything is composited on your Mac. Callstage has no account, no cloud and no analytics. The only thing it fetches is the update list from updates.callstage.app. See the privacy policy.

Why does an update sometimes ask me to restart?

macOS keeps running the previous version of a camera extension until the Mac restarts. Callstage tells you when an update needs one; most don't.

Why does my preview look mirrored?

Zoom and Photo Booth mirror your own view so it feels like a mirror. What other people see is never mirrored, so your banner reads correctly for them.
